You can take the moon
Gather up the stars
And the robins that sing merrily
Put 'em in a box
Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea
You can take the flowers
Down in lovers lane
And that sentimental poetry
Put 'em in a box
Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea
Not for me, all that stuff
The dreams that ruin your sleep
Not for me, had enough
Love is one thing you can keep
You can take the plans
And the wedding bells
And whoever sings "Oh Promise Me"
Put 'em in a box
Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea
'Cause love and I we don't agree
The hansoms through the park
The kisses in the dark
All the promises made faithfully
Put 'em in a box
Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea
And you won't go wrong
If you take a song
Sung by Frankie Boy or Mr. C
Put 'em in a box
Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea
Not for me, all that stuff
(The dreams that ruin your sleep)
Not for me, had enough
(Love is one thing you can keep in the ice box)
You know what you can do
With good old "Tea for Two"
And the girl for you, the boy for me
Put 'em in a box
Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea
'Cause love and I we don't agree

One does not know how to react to this poem – On the one hand if this is your true feeling – I feel very sorry for you. On the other hand one needs to remember that love is the strongest force in the universe – and remember if you throw it in the sea you will never get rid of it because the sea will wash it up again. Love can never be kept in the ice box - it is far to hot. God’s love is “A love that will not let you go!!” God Bless PMP
It's not a poem. :-) It's a song from the movie 'Romance on the High Seas'. I love Doris Day and she sings it.
You have taught me something and one would have to see the movie to understand it - forgive my ignorance. However taken out of context - something we should not do - my comments stand - I'm glad to hear it does not express your attitude to love - you had me worried - God Bless PMP
